So, yesterday me and two of my colleagues went to Public School 404 for drinks and light bites. We usually try and catch up at least once every other month, but it’s been so busy for all of us and we finally got a chance to get together. The last time a few of us were leavingĀ The Optimist, I looked over and noticed Public School 404, and since I hadn’t been, it was next on my “must try” list.
Public School is a Gastropub that offers eclectic bites with a school inspired menu and decor. They have a few different locations around the country and just add the area code for that respective city at the end of the name, hence “404” for Atlanta. The school theme throughout the restaurant is so well done and thought out. From the composition notebook menus, to the No. 2 pencils at the entrance, to the yearbooks on the tables and atlases on the wall, to the notebook paper beverage napkins- the decor is endearing and nostalgic. The menu had great variety, with a number of the items being a spin on lunch foods from back in grade school. But not that cafeteria food we all dreaded, they put a cool and fun twist on everything and it was downright delicious! From cheddar bacon tater tots, hand tossed pizza, chicken and steak tacos, to a PB &J Burger- you name it, they had it!
I started off with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and then we ordered some bites. We went with the crispy buffalo cauliflower, bacon cheddar tots, fiery calamari, brussel sprouts, and the Adobo skirt steak tacos. I didn’t try to tater tots because I don’t eat bacon, but everything else was awesome!! My favorite was the buffalo cauliflower- I swear it tasted better than buffalo chicken! Here are some pics of the food below.

Our server was really sweet and kept our wine glasses filled. Major key for me. He mentioned the fried chicken and waffles and shrimp and grits, but we saved that for next time, although he said they are both amazing. If you haven’t noticed, 3 out of our 5 dishes were fried- not so healthy… but we picked our poison! The good thing is, the restaurant has a ton of options in case you want to be a little more health conscious than we were. All in all, I really enjoyed it and would definitely go back! If you decide to go, tell them Cup of Consuella sent you! š
