I remember the days I would wake up, shower, do my makeup, get dressed, and run out of the door. I never took vitamins, supplements, or even drank water before leaving the house for the day. I was chatting with a friend a few years ago about some vitamins she was ordering when she shockingly asked me “wait…you don’t take any supplements?” I honestly didn’t believe I needed to.
And then I had Sanai. After having my daughter, my body changed and I soon realized that I needed to look into an easy morning routine that I could implement to help my immune system and overall health. After a little research and some suggestions from my primary care physician, I developed a simple morning routine that I complete before I leave the house everyday. I’ve been doing this routine pretty consistently over the last year or so and I’ve seen a great change in my overall health. In light of all that’s going on today with the coronavirus, it’s even more crucial that we take extra precautions to keep our immune systems as healthy as possible. Please note that I am not a medical professional and I’m just sharing the routine that works for me. Here it is:
16 oz of water w/ Daily Turmeric Nutrient Booster Powder – I’m sure you are aware that drinking an adequate amount of water has a ton of health benefits. I try and drink no less than 64 oz per day, so starting my day with 16 oz of water is essential for me. I sit a bottle of water on my nightstand before bed so it’s easily accessible when I wake up in the morning. Drinking water on an empty stomach helps the body to hydrate and it helps for you to have regular bowel movements. It also helps aid digestion for the rest of your day. If I drink 16 oz of water before I leave my house, then I’ve already consumed 25% of my daily water intake before I’ve even gotten my day started. To boost my nutritional intake, I add a small scoop of Daily Turmeric booster powder to my water. Turmeric has anti inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which helps aid in healthy digestion. Turmeric is also known to potentially prevent heart disease and helps with arthritis.
Daily Women’s Vitamin– Taking vitamins daily gives me a boost of energy and helps to speed up my metabolism. I’ve noticed on days I miss out on my vitamins, I can be a bit more sluggish than normal. I always opt for a complete multivitamin because it’s a great way to get in all that good Vitamin A,C,D, & E. Life hack: get the gummies! They are so much easier to take than a pill, and they come in great flavors without leaving that nasty after taste. If you take a multivitamin, then there’s no need to take Vitamin C on it’s own.
B12 supplement– This is one of my daily vitamins because it gives me a great energy boost. Weakness and fatigue are signs of B12 deficiency, so you definitely want to keep these in your daily routine. B12 Energy also helps support cellular energy levels and production. This is essential for me, especially on nights that I don’t get enough sleep. My eating schedule is sometimes thrown off when my work schedule is hectic, so having B12 as metabolism support is a major plus. I get the flavored supplements and they taste like fruity candy bites. These B12 energy ginger gummies from Mega Food are my favorites!
Probiotics– Probiotics are live bacteria and yeasts that are good for your body. Most people associate the word “yeast” with a yeast infection, which happens when bad vaginal bacteria outweighs the good, causing the candida fungus to grow. No Bueno. The good news is, probiotics help balance the friendly bacteria in your digestive system and they help keep your gut healthy. The probiotics I use are specifically for vaginal and urinary tract health, helping to keep bacteria balanced and keep yeast to a minimum. I’ll do another blog post on all the things I use to keep my lady parts in the best shape ever. Stay tuned for that.
Elderberry– Elderberry was added to my “must- have” list when Sanai was 11 months old. She had a horrible fever and nothing I gave her would work. One of my friend’s who happens to be a nutritionist recommended raw elderberry. I gave it to Sanai and within hours, she was back to normal. Elderberry is packed with antioxidants and vitamins that boost your immune system. It helps combat respiratory illnesses like the common cold and flu, and it’s high in vitamin A, B, C, and potassium. Elderberry is one of those items everyone should have in their medicine cabinets! If you don’t get anything from this list, get Elderberry!
