Happy new Year, guys!
We are officially 16 days into the new year and 2019 is already starting off amazing! There are two weeks left in the month and plenty of time to make some new year resolutions. I know some people feel like new year resolutions are all talk, no action. Others often question the purpose of waiting for the new year to set goals that you can start working on right then. While both of those may be valid points, there is just something refreshing about starting anew. There is something refreshing about being able to write a new book with 12 amazing chapters and 365 new pages. For me, a new year screams opportunity. And this year, I plan to take on every opportunity that comes my way. I am naturally an over achiever and, as a result, I sometimes end up biting off more than I can chew. So, when it came to making resolutions for the new year, I knew I needed to have laser focus. I decided to section my goals into four areas: health, wealth, professional, and personal.
- Health Goals:
- Develop a consistent exercise routine
- Incorporate cleaner eating
Like every other woman in the world, I want to lose 15-20 pounds and actually keep the weight off. I also want to continue with my pescatarian diet, cut out as much diary as possible, and drink alcohol in moderation (no promises there). I will carve out some time for exercising 3-4 times a week, and stick to my routine, no matter how busy I am. You heard that, Courtney? No matter how busy you are, you will work out! Don’t mind me, this is my pep talk to myself. In the grand scheme of things, I am happy with my body, but there is definitely still work to be done and this will be the year I do it. If you’re looking for some fitness apps that have exercises you can do at home, check my latest Instagram fitness posts for details.
- Wealth Goals:
- Create another stream of income
- Reach my annual savings goal
If you haven’t read my blog post about attaining wealth, click here to get a better understanding of where to start. One of my goals this year was to add an additional stream of income. A few months ago, I was up in the wee hours of the morning, talking with my boyfriend about my short- and long-term goals. I remember saying to him “babe, I just want to make money in my sleep.” And guess what, for the first time in my life, I made money in my sleep. God is good! I finally published my e-book of plant-based recipes for the Daniel Fast and the sales have been amazing. The feeling of waking up to money in my bank account was so gratifying and surreal. Needless to say, this will be the first venture of many. I am also working towards my annual savings goal. I set one every year, but last year was rough and I did not meet my goal. I’ve since put a savings plan into place and feel confident I will surpass my goal by year’s end. Stay tuned for a blog post on some easy and effective ways to save big. - Professional Goals:
- Prepare to obtain my Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) credential
- Monetize Sis, Let’s Talk!
The CMP credential is recognized globally as the badge of excellence in the events industry. The qualifications for certification are based on professional experience, education, and passing a very rigorous exam. Meeting professionals who hold the CMP earn more than $10,000 annually than their non-certified counterparts, on average. Like any other certification, the CMP credential opens the door to better and more opportunities. After attending the Event Service Professionals Association (ESPA) conference this past weekend, I am officially eligible to sit for the exam. Another professional goal is to monetize Sis, Let’s Talk! SLT is a platform my best friend and I created to connect women in all walks of life, through candid conversation. We’ve successfully launched our podcast and have finally gotten enough listens to start the monetization stage. My best friend/business partner is a serial entrepreneur and great at marketing, so I went in business with the right person (Hey, Jas ♥). Season 2 of our podcast will be absolutely amazing, and I hope that if your reading this, you’ll join the conversation. Give us a follow on Instagram, Sis, Let’s Talk!
- Personal Goals:
- Develop a deeper connection with God
- Protect my peace
I know everyone is on this new wave of “protecting their peace”, but when I say it, I mean it. Of course, that means removing any external factors that create any chaos in my life, no matter how big or small they may be. This also means protecting myself from all negative thoughts, even my own. I will make a promise to myself to only be around people and things that bring me joy and contribute to my growth as a person. I will make a promise to myself to only speak positivity, greatness, and increase over my life. I will make a promise to myself to do ll the things I say I will do. All of this will come as a result of me being still, talking to God more, and focusing on developing a deeper connection with Him. This year, I vow to pray more and worry less.
2019 will be an amazing year because I’m claiming it. What are your resolutions for the new year?
Xo, Consuella ♥
OMG, girlllll!!! I know people might not know it to look at us, BUT, I’m pretty sure we’re somehow twins. Or at the very least first cousins, lol. I read this post and was like, YES! to everything you said, and I am SO excited for you to be making some money through your eBook. Congratulations! I’m working on a side income as well….I have got to figure it out this year:/
